WOW Insane in the Membrane
Blizzard recently snuck out a new Cataclysm Beta patch, and with it came a number of spell changes, new items, and all the usual goodies. We’ve posted in-depth details on all of these changes in our blog here, but I wanted to draw more attention to a significantly major change that will affect many completionists out there.
In this latest Cataclysm Beta build, Insane in the Membrane no longer requires Exalted with The Shen’dralar.
See for yourself!
Many players currently working on the brutal Insane in the Membrane grind were worried when they learned that many of the changes being made to old world zones in Cataclysm made getting some of the required reputations even more difficult, nigh impossible. That was, indeed, the case of the Shen’dralar. Bashiok commented on this back at the end of

Insane in the Membrane is a feat of strength, not an achievement. Feats are things that you can’t be guaranteed to complete, which is why they’re feats and not achievements.
Most of them are actually now impossible to complete, and this feat will join a long list of “you had to be there” moments in WoW time.
The feat isn’t being removed of course, those who have it will retain it, however; some of the requirements are, so it will no longer be able to be completed by anyone who has not already done so.
It’s possible that in some very specific situations where someone has completed the reputations which are being removed, but not others that will still be in the game, that it can still be completed. But it’s something we’re waiting for clarity on, and will let you know as soon as we do.
Of course, this surprising change will lead to tons of questions, so hopefully Blizzard will have some clarifications soon. For example, does this mean we only have to get
Exalted with the other factions, and when Cataclysm hits we’ll be awarded with the title? We’ll update with some official Blizzard insight on the subject when it’s available. In the meantime, anyone else out there celebrating? 🙂
